MLCC Replacement Solutions

KEMET KOCAP Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are ideal for board space savings, a piezo noise-free environment, high capacitance, long stable life performance, and/or lower profile requirements. Tantalum polymer capacitors are selected over other capacitor technologies when application voltages are less than 50V, capacitance needs are between 1µF to 1mF, and application frequencies are below 1MHz. Since replacing ceramic capacitors with tantalum polymer capacitors is not typically one-for-one, designers need to consider several design requirements as outlined in the schematic below.

High Energy SSD KO-CAP® Polymer Capacitors

KEMET High Energy SSD KO-CAP® Polymer Capacitors offer high energy density and stable capacitance across temperature and voltage, making them ideal for space-constrained power efficiency designs. These capacitors feature a conductive polymer cathode for low ESR, high ripple current capability, and excellent frequency response. The SSD KO-CAP® capacitors are rated at 35VDC and offer capacitance options from 470µF to 680µF with ESR values as low as 70mΩ. These capacitors operate within the -55°C to 105°C temperature range. Typical applications include enterprise storage, networking, servers, and Solid-State Drives (SSDs).

Polymer Capacitors Cloud & AI Applications

KEMET Organic Capacitors (KO-CAP®) provide an ideal solution for applications requiring power-loss (hold up) protection or maximum power efficiency of a circuit with limited board space. Polymer technology offers high energy density and extended life capabilities, making it a key solution for designers working in cloud infrastructure applications like solid-state drives, 5G, and servers.
